Behind the Typeface: Cooper Black

A beloved mockumentary from 2002 about the rise, fall, and redemption of one of the most famous typefaces of all time. The first viral video about a font (I think), more than 100,000 people have seen it, and design-school students and other type nerds continually rediscover it every year. It’s been shown at conferences, was a finalist in the SXSW Interactive Awards, and even played at the Emeryville Art Exhibition one year. Thanks to Alyssa Bostwick, Pete Caslavka, Jessica Hird, Chris West, and my darling Sarah for providing voices.

Fun Fact The short was originally going to be about Hobo before my housemate at the time, who had once worked for a T-shirt shop, suggested Cooper Black instead.
